interview

Hailing from Brum these lads have set the pace on the UK music scene. Following their pioneering hit, ‘Either Way’ The Twang has swept away the Indie cobwebs and ‘Mr Sheen’ all surfaces. With a vigorous schedule ahead along with festival line ups on the go, The Twang take a moment out to speak to MyVillage…

How are you coping with the transition from anonymity to notoriety?
Don’t notice it that much. Its nice that you get fans come and have a chat, but we ain’t exactly superstars are we?

As lads from Brum –how has your home town shaped you as artists?
Can’t really say because its just who we are, I’m proud of where I come from.

What local hang outs do you miss when touring?
Just the obvious ones, local boozer and home… I miss family and friends, my phone bill is massive!

Riding high – what’s perks are you likely to receive as The Twang?
Not having to wake up and do the same every day. Must admit the free clothes are pretty cool too.

The press tend to compare fresh talent to other namely bands – what comparison/s has put a smile and frown on your faces?
Happy Mondays Stone Roses The Streets, all great bands and pioneers in there own right. I don’t think we sound like any of them but it’s great to be compared to these.

If the band dream never materialised – what would be next on your list of things-to-do?
Probably still doing it and keep on at it, I’m interested in flowers, so maybe work on to become a florist while still playing.

Still quite fresh on the scene– how do you intend to retain the Twang hype and admiration?
Just stick together and keep believing that we have what it takes. We have the taste for it and don’t want to f*** it up.

Have you acquired any celebrity fans yet?
I heard Terry Wogan liked us.

2007 has seen many bands reform – who would you like to see back on the stage again?
Deffo, The Smiths, but sometimes things are best left alone… it may be hard to get that magic back.

What’s left for The Twang to conquer?
Writing great songs, doing great gigs and the rest will happen…
