She's been facing the glare of the cameras since she was a teenager, but Sophie Dahl has apparently confessed that she gets stage fright on the red carpet.

The model and granddaughter of Roald Dahl reportedly told the Daily Mail that although she "took to it like a duck to water" when she was younger, she finds it increasingly difficult to stand in front of snappers.

"I don't have the chest or the chutzpah I did then, so walking the red carpet now gives me gnawing anxiety and a quivering lip," she confessed.

Sophie, 30, gave other models some wise advice on red carpet etiquette.

"Don't start chattering with the snappers," she said. "You'll have your mouth open and look like a freak."

Luckily for Sophie, if the stage fright gets too much for her she can always rely on her other career as a writer.

Following in her grandfather's footsteps, she is set to release her second book and first novel, Playing With The Grown Ups, next month.

She might be something of a fashion icon in her own right, but you wouldn’t expect the Queen to be the style inspiration for clothes horse Sophie Dahl.

But Sophie, one of the world’s most recognisable models, says she’s a huge fan of the royal wardrobe.

The 29-year-old granddaughter of children’s author Roald Dahl - who posed naked for a perfume advert seven years ago - attended Her Majesty’s 80th birthday tea party and told The Times she was impressed with what she saw.

"I love the Queen," she said. "And I love her taste in fashion. I identify with her! I think she’s found her formula."

Sophie began modelling as an 18-year-old, when she was a size 16. She was praised for her fuller figure but has since lost a significant amount of weight and now apparently has a 26-inch waist.

As well as her controversial naked advert for Yves Saint-Laurent’s Opium, she has appeared in adverts for Accessorize and Pringle and has been on the cover of Tatler and Harper’s.

She has also turned her hand to writing, penning several short stories and a novella called The Man With The Dancing Eyes.
