Samanda's three-legged charity race - Mar 14 2008
Big Brother twins Sam and Amanda Marchant are set to run a three-mile three-legged race for Sport Relief this weekend.

The bubbly blondes have been training hard and are looking forward to doing their bit for charity.

After gaining a reputation for being inseparable during Channel 4's reality TV show last year, the sisters won't have any choice but to stick together during the run, as Sam explains.

"We've got a surprise," she said. "We're going to tie ourselves together with a pink ribbon, which will make running more difficult. But I think I'll be dragging Amanda along!"

Amanda retorted: "Shut up! I was way better at running at school than you Sam!"

The girls have been running in Hyde Park for half an hour every morning and have really enjoyed getting active.

They said: "It's just so much fun. We've been listening to our MP3 players and the time goes so quickly. We've really enjoyed it.

"We don't know how much money we've raised yet, we're getting all our friends and family to sponsor us, but we're hoping it's going to be a lot.

"We just really want to do our bit for charity."

Sport Relief encourages people to raise money by getting active. All the funds raised is spent by Comic Relief to help people in need both in the UK and in the world's poorest countries.

BB twins record Barbie Girl single - Sept 11 2007
Big Brother twins Sam and Amanda Marchant have recorded their music debut - Barbie Girl.

The single, a cover of Aqua’s hit, will hit the shops in October.

The 19-year-old twins, from Newcastle-under-Lyme, who were joint runners up in the show, said: "It’s a dream come true for us to record our favourite song of all time.

"We’re just so excited about everything and keep having to pinch ourselves to make sure it’s all real."

A spokesman for record company SonyBMG, which has signed up the twins, said: "It is a measure of how much viewers identified with the twins that they were the only Big Brother contestants never to have been nominated for a single eviction.

"They are also the only Big Brother contestants ever to have signed with a major record company. Superstardom beckons for them."

The eighth series of Big Brother was won by Brian Belo, a 20-year-old data clerk from Essex, who famously told the housemates he had no idea who Shakespeare was.
