In a forthcoming storyline Maria Sutherland (Samia Smith) buys her boyfriend, factory worker Liam Connor (Rob James-Collier), the puppy as a surprise.

She lures him back to her flat and he thinks he is for an afternoon of loving - but is left shocked when he realises the "treat" Maria has promised is a puppy.

However, Liam soon falls in love with the pup and names him Ozzy after the Black Sabbath frontman.

A source told the paper: "Ozzy may get better treatment than Maria over the next few months."

Hollywood has its Walk of Fame - now Birmingham is to follow suit with Ozzy Osbourne as the first inductee.

The Birmingham Walk of Stars will honour the city’s most famous sons and daughters, and Ozzy will get his own brass star on the pavement of Broad Street, the West Midlands’ answer to Hollywood Boulevard.

The former Black Sabbath singer and all-round rock legend, who grew up in Aston, will attend the induction ceremony on July 6.

He was inducted into the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2002.

But being honoured by his home city is a greater honour, according to the 58-year-old.

"I have a star in Hollywood on their Walk of Fame but having a star in my home town means so much more to me," he said.

Walk of Fame organiser Gary Taylor said: "Ozzy is widely recognised as the most famous Birmingham person in the world today and we’re proud to be able to offer him the honour of being the first star on the Walk of Stars in Broad Street."

Members of the public are being invited to nominate other famous Brummies in the fields of entertainment, sport and the arts.

They can vote by visiting the www.walkofstars.co.uk website.

Organisers have named their 12 most wanted stars.

Besides Ozzy, they are Jasper Carrott, Lenny Henry and Frank Skinner, Cat Deeley, Duran Duran, Jamelia, Robert Plant and UB40, racing driver Nigel Mansell, conductor Sir Simon Rattle and actress Julie Walters.

Free entry to Ozzfest? - Feb 8 2007
It seems entry to this year’s Ozzfest won’t cost fans a penny - in a press conference in Los Angeles earlier this week Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne announced that admission would be free.

The X Factor judge said that she realised the escalating costs of the gigs often priced out the biggest fans, reports E! Online.

Some of the tickets for last year’s gigs hit 150 dollars.

"For the last few years, ticket prices have steadily climbed as artists demand more and more money for summer tours," she said.

"We certainly want everybody to make money; however, we also want the kids to be able to afford to come out and have an incredible experience. If we continued with the traditional touring festival model, we would have no choice but to raise ticket prices again this year."

While tickets will be free, fans will still need them to get to shows. Further information will be available at www.ozzfest.com or www.livenation.com.

Currently the only confirmed headliner is Ozzy. The shows kick off on July 7 in Los Angeles.

Sharon commented: "We have bands committed, but we’re hoping that after today’s announcement, we’ll have a whole influx of artists who want to be a part of something this groundbreaking."
