Orlando Bloom
- Profession: Actor
- Place/Date of Birth: Canterbury, 13 January 1977
Internet rumours suggests that the 30-year-old might be appearing in the sequel to Superman Returns, titled Superman: Man Of Steel.
The British star was one of the names bandied around (along with almost every young actor in Tinseltown) to play Clark Kent in the first film, but Brandon Routh will be reprising his role.
So who could he be playing? One rumour is that he could be the new villain, since the last film say Lex Luthor stuck on a desert island. Another suggests he could be Lois Lane’s new love interest.
The latter could cause some interesting issues on set. Lois is played by none other than Orlando’s former squeeze Kate Bosworth. Watch this space.
Orlando’s dating woes - April 11 2007
Orlando Bloom has come to terms with the pressure of celebrity relationships, saying: "You can’t date if you’re famous."
Orlando has had a tumultuous time when it comes to Hollywood hook-ups. He was on/off with actress Kate Bosworth for four years and has recently been linked to Penelope Cruz.
However, the British 30-year-old - who stars this summer in the third Pirates Of The Caribbean movie - admits that for those in the public eye, it’s even harder.
"There are complications in relationships between men and women," he tells the latest issue of Elle magazine. "There always will be. But there’s also the celebrity aspect of it. It’s like you travel so much and it feels like the options are endless. People think getting a new partner is like getting a new cat."
Keep an eye on the tabloids to see if Orlando decides to get another pet any time soon.
Orlando building ’green’ house in London - Feb 23 2007
British actor Orlando Bloom says he’s building a house in London with the environment in mind.
"It’s as green as I can make it," the star said from a pre-Oscar party in Los Angeles, which was raising funds for the environmental organisation Global Green USA and its efforts to combat global climate change.

"It’s got solar panels on the roof, energy efficient light bulbs -- newer technology basically that is environmentally friendly," he said after arriving at the event in a plug-in hybrid vehicle.
Not everyone can live a totally green lifestyle, Orlando said, but they could start by unplugging their mobile phone chargers or turning off their TV when not in use.
"It doesn’t have to be overwhelming, there are simple things we can do," he said.
The event also drew celebrities such as Penelope Cruz, Chevy Chase, and James Blunt. It kicked off a campaign to shuttle celebrities to Oscar-related events in environmentally friendly cars.
Orlando tight-lipped about Kate - Sept 25, 2006
Orlando Bloom is still refusing to confirm or deny rumours he has split up with longtime on/off girlfriend Kate Bosworth. At the Los Angeles premiere of his new film Haven, he was whisked away at the first sign of personal questions.
And now he tells People magazine: "People always ask me whether [we’re] together or not. It’s still nobody’s business."
The twenty-nine-year-old actor also admits that he doesn’t mind being called a Hollywood hunk.
"That doesn’t bother me," he reveals. "Name any of my heroes and they were hotties. Brando was a pin-up, so was James Dean, Paul Newman."

Struggling through many classes at school, it took several years for Orlando to be diagnosed as dyslexic but made the most of his time at St Edmund’s School by taking part in theatre projects. He joined the National Youth Theatre in London at sixteen where he gained a scholarship to work with the British American Drama Academy, while also taking bit parts in Casualty, Midsomer Murders and Smack the Pony. It was around this time that he picked up his first movie role, alongside Jude Law and Stephen Fry in Wilde.
In 1998 Orlando attended the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where he fell from a roof terrace, breaking his back and facing permanent paralysis. However he quickly recovered and almost immediately was spotted by director Peter Jackson, who signed him up for the part of Legolas in the epic Lord of the Rings trilogy. Since this Orlando has gone stratospheric, appearing in numerous films including Pirates of the Caribbean, The Calcium Kid, Troy and Kingdom of Heaven. He now lives between London and LA and has an on/off relationship with fellow actor Kate Bosworth.
