Jonny to hit US TV screens - Jan 30 3008
British actor Jonny Lee Miller is set to make waves on American TV, starring in new drama series Eli Stone.
The 35-year-old Surrey lad plays Eli Stone, an ethically-challenged lawyer who begins to have visions after being told he has a brain aneurysm, many of them involving singer George Michael.
"He's kind of a reluctant hero," says Jonny of his character to TV Guide.
"He ends up doing good things, but that's not what he sets out to do. To me, that's a lot more interesting than him being a complete do-gooder."
Jonny's Stateside fame comes from 1996's Trainspotting and his three-year marriage to Angelina Jolie. He had a disappointing turn in US drama Smith, which was shelved after a few episodes in 2006.
"No one even got to see most of the work we'd done, so I was wary of doing another series. But this was such a good part that I couldn't not pursue it," he admits.
"A lot of odd things happen in this show, in a way that makes it different from anything else I've seen."
Eli Stone premieres on US screens on Thursday January 31.
Jonny: There’s nowhere to hide - June 29 2007
Jonny Lee Miller has admitted he had to get in shape for his role in new film The Flying Scotsman.
The star is taking on the role of real life cyclist Graeme Obree, who built his own bike out of washing machine parts, and went on to win, lose, and then retake the world one-hour distance record.
Jonny, 34, told Entertainment Weekly: "It would be pretty obvious if I wasn’t in some kind of shape, since you have to wear so much lycra. There’s nowhere to hide.
"But I also learnt the ins and outs of riding on a track. That’s where most of Graeme’s riding takes place in the movie."
The feature also deals with the sportsman’s bipolar disorder - and Johnny said he enjoyed the challenge.
He added: "That was attractive to me. But it’s also I think a wonderful story, and one that’s not particularly well known, either at home or abroad."
The Flying Scotsman is released today (Friday June 29).
Jonny Lee Miller moves on - Oct 18 2006
Jonny Lee Miller has finally moved on from ex-wife Angelina Jolie and says he plans to get serious with his new girlfriend, 33-year-old ex-model and budding US actress Michele Hicks.
Jonny and Angelina, who were married in March 1996 and divorced in February 1999, have remained friends since their split, with Angelina even proclaiming that "divorcing Jonny was probably the dumbest thing I’ve ever done."
Still, Brad and Michele needn’t worry. In an interview with Italy’s L’Uomo Vogue, Jonny, 33, says: "I have some beautiful memories," and says he has no regrets about his short-lived marriage to the Tomb Raider star, but adds, "Angelina is my past. Michelle is my present and future. I love her and hope to have a family with her soon."
New Jersey native Michele co-owns a Pilates studio in New York and appeared in David Lynch’s Oscar-nominated film Mulholland Dr. in 2001.

He was born in Kingston in 1972, where he attended selective grammar school where he reportedly very quiet and introspective. He comes from a busy acting family: his father, Alan Miller, was a famous stage actor in the 50’s and 60’s, and his granddad, Bernard Lee, played M in the early James Bond movies.
His acting belies a different side of him, and his outgoing, bold style won him his first major role in Hollywood techno-thriller Hackers in 1995. He starred in Trainspotting the following year. Other notable roles include those in Regeneration (1997), Complicity (2000) and AEon Flux (2005). Television credits include the BBC’s recent take on The Canterbury Tales and the lead role in a television adaptation of the life of Lord Byron. He is a partner in the successful British production company, Natural Nylon, with fellow actors Ewan McGregor.
He met Angelina Jolie on the set of hackers, and they married in 1996. After only a year together they separated. Many weren’t surprised that the unlikely pair went their separate ways, and there was some speculation that the union was undermined by Jolie’s need for violence in the bedroom. Oo err. That being said, Jolie was quoted as saying ’Divorcing Jonny was probably the dumbest thing I’ve ever done’ after splitting with Billy Bob Thornton in 2003. The two remain on good terms, and Miller has been positive towards news of Jolie’s pregnancy and her relationship with Brad Pitt.
Other significant partners have included Lisa Faulkner and Natalie Appleton (they were proclaimed ’London’s Coolest Couple by Elle in 1999), with whom he has a daughter, Rachel. He is single at the moment.
He currently lives in Primrose Hill, London.
