Jimmy Carr hijacks Big Brother - Jan 25 2008
Jimmy Carr has become the latest celebrity to hijack the Big Brother house, but he has a tough act to follow after Roseanne Barr proved a hit with the housemates.
The 35-year-old comedian is set to quiz the housemates on how highly they rate each other for looks, intelligence and talent, when he calls them into the Diary Room.
And he will also reward housemates with a special prize for whoever can do the best impression of Big Brother's Geordie voice-over artist Marcus Bentley.
Meanwhile, the housemates were left gobsmacked when US comedienne Roseanne Barr took over the house - and made them all perform a stand-up routine.
Roseanne started her stint by telling them: "I love that I push a button and get to yell at you, I need one of these in my house!"
She called the housemates into the Diary Room in pairs and gave them tips on perfecting a comedy act.
Artist Amy managed to make Roseanne laugh with her joke: "What did Emilia's left leg say to her right leg? Nothing, they've not met yet."
But not all the housemates were laughing - especially not Calista.
John joked that every problem in the house was caused by either air conditioning "or Calista's period pains", while Anthony joked that she had "more moustache than my daddy". Ouch.
Carr for BB hijack? - Dec 21 2007
Comedian Jimmy Carr is rumoured to be among the stars who have signed up for Big Brother: Celebrity Hijack.
The funnyman will be one of the celebs taking control of the reality TV house when it opens its doors in the New Year, reports the Daily Star.
Other stars set to be BB bosses include Malcolm McLaren and Joan Rivers.
Each celeb will spend a day or two playing Big Brother and controlling the lives of a group of young wannabes - who won’t be famous.
Dermot O’Leary will front the live eviction shows when the series, which replaces Celebrity Big Brother, kicks off in January.
He’s quoted as saying: "There are two main differences. First of all, the celebs will actually be Big Brother. And secondly, rather than doing auditions, we went out and deliberately cast some very gifted people to be in the house - so hopefully it’ll lead to a really fun experience."

After leaving Cambridge, Carr was hired by the oil company Shell as a marketing executive, a job which he described as "technically the easiest job on the planet". Less than two years afterwards, he took redundancy and joined JC Productions Ltd in order to begin a career in stand-up comedy.
Whilst working at JC Productions with his father, Carr made his first film at Pinewood starring Craig Charles and Roy Dotrice. The film, The Colour of Funny, was a flop and this failure motivated him to try his hand at comic writing and stand-up.
Carr eventually gained recognition at the Royal Variety Performance, and was chosen by Channel 4 to host game shows such as Distraction and Your Face or Mine? In 2004 he released his first stand up DVD titled simply Jimmy Carr Live, and the following year (2005) his second was released, Jimmy Carr Stand Up. A third DVD Jimmy Carr - Comedian was released late 2007.
