Hugh proposed to Jemima - June 12, 2006
Hugh Grant has reportedly proposed to girlfriend Jemima Khan. The ’Notting Hill’ actor apparently got down on one knee six months ago while the couple were holidaying in Barbados. Daily Mail columnist Richard Kay said: "It’s one of the best-kept secrets of the celebrity world."
Spokespeople for Grant and Khan - who started dating two years ago - have so far refused to comment on the claims. However, a friend of the socialite has given the relationship her blessing, saying: "They get along marvellously. He’s very clever, and she really is funny, witty and quick. They spark off each other perfectly."
In the last month, the couple have been spotted looking very much in love in cities around the world including New York and Venice - however no ring was sighted on Jemima’s finger. It was the trip to the Italian city that quashed rumours the couple’s relationship was in trouble. The pair, who had previously tried to keep their romance under wraps, appeared besotted with each other as they shared a passionate kiss on their ?550-a-night hotel balcony.
Hugh whisked Jemima to Venice - May 31, 2006
Hugh Grant has whisked lover Jemima Khan to Venice - quashing rumours the couple’s relationship is in trouble.
The pair - who have gone to great lengths in the past to keep their romance under wraps - appeared besotted with each other as they shared a passionate kiss on their ?550-a-night hotel balcony. After the raunchy hotel display, Hugh, 45, took his girlfriend - the ex-wife of Pakistan cricket legend Imran Khan - on a romantic boat trip.
The couple have been at the centre of break-up rumours since 32-year-old Jemima reportedly complained that the pair did not spend enough time together. The socialite is also said to be growing increasingly tired of the ’Notting Hill’ actor’s reluctance to settle down. Split reports also intensified after Hugh ditched plans to move into Jemima’ s plush Chelsea home, in London.
Hugh and Jemima’s romance on the rocks - May 22, 2006
Hugh Grant and Jemima Khan’s romance is on the rocks, it’s been revealed. The couple - who have been dating for two years - have reportedly had a string of blazing rows about the actor’s commitment issues.
Socialite Jemima - who used to be married to cricketer Imran Khan - reportedly called Hugh and sobbed: "I can’t go on living like this." A source told the News of the World newspaper: "It’s very sad. They are apart and this really looks as if it could be the end. "Jemima’s had enough of Hugh not committing. She can only put up with so much." The insider added: "They’ve been having huge rows and Hugh doesn’t have a clue that he’s pushing her away. This has been a long-running problem."

In 1995, Hugh became the scandal of the year by hiring a prostitute, Divine Brown, to perform certain acts in the privacy of his automobile. His girlfriend, Liz Hurley was not amused and although she stuck by him through the scandal they finally called it quits in 2000 after 13 years together. The Divine Brown incident could well have been the making of Hugh Grant though, after this mishap he was cast in many more films and became a British icon here and in the States.
Although many of his films at this time were dubious to say the least, their ratings were bouyed by his popularity and in 1999 he made a real comeback. Notting Hill was a return to form for Grant, made by the same team that first shot to fame with Four Weddings...it confirmed his status and saw his star on the rise again. Following up his success with About A boy and Bridget Jone’s Diary which saw him departing from his usual role as bumbling English fool and made him a whole new type of heartthrob.
He has also starred in Love Actually as the Prime Minister, which saw much speculation as to whether Brits would actually prefer Grant as the leader of their country. Hugh remains a bachelor, despite rumours of a fling with co-star Sandra Bullock, and remains very close friends with Liz Hurley with whom he owns Simian Productions.
