Gwyneth replaced Elizabeth Hurley as the face of Estee Lauder - Nov 07, 2005
Gwyneth Paltrow has replaced Elizabeth Hurley as the face of Estee Lauder. The Hollywood beauty has signed a ?1.5million contract with the beauty giants to promote their Pleasures perfume. The stunning actress, who has already been photographed for ads by Mario Testino, said: "Years ago, endorsing a product was considered something an actress shouldn’t do. Now it’s almost like a status symbol." Elizabeth - who will continue to be an Estee Lauder ’spokesmodel’ - is said to have been dropped from the Pleasures campaign because Gwyneth was "more sexy."
A company spokeswoman admitted: "Estee Lauder wanted to vamp up its image and make it more sexy. Gwyneth Paltrow is new and a bit more exciting." Elizabeth, who has modelled for the cosmetics firm since 1995, recently confessed she can no longer get away with her trademark revealing outfits since she turned 40, saying: "I’m never again going to sit eating lunch on a boat in just a skimpy bikini. I just don’t feel comfortable doing that any more."
Meanwhile, Gwyneth’s husband, Chris Martin, has fuelled speculation she may be pregnant with their second child. When asked about the recent baby rumours at the MTV Europe Awards, the Coldplay frontman mysteriously said: "I can’t tell you about Gwyneth, you know that. She’d kill me."
Gwyneth Paltrow has confirmed she is pregnant - Oct 25, 2005
Gwyneth Paltrow has cryptically confirmed she is pregnant. The smiling star told a press conference that there were "two Paltrows in the room" while patting her bulging stomach. The actress - dressed in a figure hugging Gucci dress - made the confession after journalists asked why her husband Coldplay frontman Chris Martin hadn’t joined her at the London premiere of ’Proof’.
Meanwhile, Paltrow’s mother, Blythe Danner, has already accidentally hinted her daughter is expecting a second child. Earlier this month, the 62-year-old actress was asked whether she was looking forward to becoming a grandmother again at a Los Angeles awards ceremony, she replied: "Yes, I am" before quickly backtracking. Blythe added: "Well, I think so. I have not checked lately - but I am a very happy grandmother of one."
Martin - who has a baby daughter Apple with Paltrow - also refused to confirm his wife is pregnant again, saying: "Everyone else seems to know more than me at the moment."

The Paltrows moved to Manhattan, New York when Gwyneth was 11 years old, where she would watch her Tony award-winning mother perform at theatre festivals, inspiring the young Gwyneth to become an actress herself, an ambition which resulted in a starring role in a production of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.
Gwyneth returned to Los Angeles in order to attend the University of California in Santa Barbara as an art history major. While her first film role was in the 1991 film Shout, with John Travolta, her big break came along when she went out one night with her father and family friends Steven Spielberg and Kate Capshaw.
Big league director Spielberg was in the process of casting for his film Hook and that night, he offered Gwyneth the role of Wendy, which she instantly accepted. After her role in Hook, also starring Robin Williams and Julia Roberts, she was cast as the lead in the 1992 mini-series Cruel Doubt.
The budding actress’ resume was soon filling up, with roles in Malice, Flesh and Bone, Mrs. Parker and the Vicious Circle, Jefferson in Paris, and Moonlight and Valentino. Although audiences were beginning to take notice of Gwyneth, the film that threw her into the spotlight was her role as Brad Pitt’s girlfriend in the thriller Seven, which is where the highly photogenic couple met and fell in love. For a while anyway.
Following this she worked on films including The Pallbearer, Great Expectations, Sliding Doors and A Perfect Murder, although her star status was really confirmed when she accepted the Best Actress Oscar in (some say fake) floods of tears.
After a brief hiatus, Gwyneth returned to the big-screen in the beautifully shot The Talented Mr. Ripley, as Jude Law’s good-hearted girlfriend. And since has filmed Shallow Hal, Sylvia and View From The Top. Following a move to swanky Belgravia where she spends time drinking herbal tea, following a macrobiotic diet and doing Yoga with best mates Madonna and Stella McCartney, Gwynnie fell in love with Coldplay singer Chris Martin who she secretly married late in 2003 while preganant with his baby, which is due this summer.
