"I respect the choice made by women to stay at home because it’s completely up to individuals how they want to live their lives. For me, it’s just as important to work and earn my own money."

Coleen - who is set to marry footballer Wayne Rooney this summer - has previously bought out her own perfume, fronted a range of clothes for Asda, writes a weekly magazine column and has penned a book.

"I think I have come out of Wayne’s shadow and made a name for myself, but that’s not something I set out to do," she explained.

"When I was in the papers I was Wayne’s girlfriend. I am still Wayne’s girlfriend and I’m proud to be his girlfriend."

Coleen splashes out on flotation tank? - Jan 7 2008

Coleen McLoughlin has apparently bought herself a floatation tank to help combat stress.

It seems the WAG - who is due to marry footy star Wayne Rooney this summer - became obsessed with getting one after a recent trip to a health spa, reports The Sun.

The egg-shaped device is now due to be installed in the couple’s mansion in Cheshire.

"Coleen used a floatation tank in a health spa and absolutely loved it," a source said.

"She thought it was really peaceful and relaxing. Now she is getting one installed in their home so she can use it whenever she is stressed.

"You experience a weightless sensation and it can also help with muscle injuries, so Wayne can use it to ease his aches and strains.

"They are popular with pregnant women, too."

The source added: "They’ve got so much space in their place that they’re having fun finding things to fill it."

’Coleen trackies’ top fashion error - Dec 7 2007

Velour tracksuits worn by famous faces such as Coleen McLoughlin have been named the number one fashion disaster.

The casual outfit was even more disliked than shell suits, which were second most disliked by survey respondents.

Other fashion faux pas included puffball skirts, leggings and ra-ra skirts.

The survey for UKTV Style found the little black dress was the number one iconic fashion item, followed by jeans in second place and the Wonderbra in third.

Nearly all the respondents (96%) owned at least one item that featured on the list of fashion disasters.

Commenting on the top 10 best fashion items, UKTV Style presenter Brendan Courtney said: "Whilst different generations might have their own ideas about style, many of these iconic fashions have shown their ageless popularity. It just shows that true style lasts forever."

The online poll of 3,000 adults was commissioned by UKTV Style and carried out by market researchers 72 Point.

Coleen considering Italian castle? - Nov 9 2007

Coleen McLoughlin is apparently looking at a Italian castle for her forthcoming nuptials with Wayne Rooney.

The 21-year-old flew out her mum and her wedding planner on a private jet to see the Castello Brown in Portofino, near Genoa, reports The Sun.

The 16th century features a banqueting hall, extensive gardens and top security because it is on a steep hill.

"The castle is as close to a fairytale setting as you can get. It’s the sort of place any young princess would dream of getting married. Coleen was left breathless by its beauty," a source said.

"This was a very hush-hush trip and Coleen was so excited. She’s seriously thinking about having the wedding overseas."

Wayne was unable to go with his missus because of Manchester Utd’s Champions League clash with Dynamo Kiev at Old Trafford.

Biography

The daughter of Tony, a bricklayer, and Colette, a nursery nurse, Coleen McLoughlin was raised in the rough Liverpool suburb of Croxteth.  One of four children, she has two younger brothers, Joe and Anthony, and a sister, Rosie, who suffers from the condition Rett’s Syndrome.

Coleen met aspiring footballer Wayne Rooney at St John Bosco Catholic school where, she says, he pestered her in to going out with him by constantly asking ’are you gonna ring me?’  Their first date is reported to have been at the local cinema, where they watched Austin Powers 2.  Although Coleen left school with a respectable ten GCSEs and aspirations to become an actress (she had starred in school productions of Grease and Bugsy Malone), by this time she had become something of a celebrity as Wayne became one of England’s most famous young footballers.

Tabloid excitement followed as Coleen shopped ’til she dropped, forgave Wayne an ill advised dalliance with a prostitute, accepted a proposal on a petrol station forecourt then threw her £46,000 ring in to the otter enclosure at the zoo.  By the time she was 18 Coleen was one of the most photographed women in the country and her developing style had won her legions of fans.

Before long Coleen had no need to spend her boyfriend’s money - she had amassed a fortune of £5.5m of her own through sponsorship deals, writing her own column for Closer, modelling for Asda (whom she is also in talks to design a range for), and a deal to write her own book, Welcome to My World.  Meanwhile she has challenged public perception through a presenting stint on Tonight With Trevor McDonald in which she spoke about Rett’s Syndrome.

Coleen, who lives in Cheshire, will reportedly marry Wayne in 2008.
