Archers for Moyles - May 04
Chris Moyles will appear in radio soap The Archers.
The Radio 1 DJ gave the nation a sneak preview of his part in long running soap The Archers last week. The episode, which will be aired on June 14th features Moyles ordering a pint of the local bitter while his Breakfast Show collegues (including Rear of the Year, Aled) ’chatter’ in the background.
Square breakfast - May 04
Chris Moyles will broadcast from Eastenders’ Queen Vic pub.
The breakfast show host and his crew will broadcast his show live from the set of the popular soap and will interview stars including Jessie Wallace and Shane Richie. Chris said "I spend so much time in pubs it seemed sensible to try and do a bit of work from one".
Modest Moyles - 06/02/04
It doesn’t happen often but it appears Chris Moyles was being modest about his take over of the Radio one breakfast show.
He told listeners ’"It’s a learning curve. I’m not sure how much they (the audience) know about us and what we do, or news wise (what they know) - apart from Leeds losing."
So far all appears to be going weel - Chris has the 7am - 10am slot on Radio One, taking over from Sara Cox.
Chris goes commando! - 01/12/03
Supposedly granting the wishes of over 16,000 Scottish Radio One listeners meant that DJ Chris Moyles wore a kilt on a recent visit to Inverness.
He was invited to switch the Christmas lights on in Inverness, which came about after the Scottish city was chosen to host a special edition of his afternoon show in the face of competition from Swansea and Kidderminster.
Kiltmakers Hector Russell showed typical Highland hospitality by gifting Chris, who has Irish ancestors, with a kilt in the Moyles family tartan. Chris said ’It was a bit strange at first, and I thought I looked a bit like Mrs Doubtfire. But once the belt was buckled on and the sporran was dangling free, it was great!’
So maybe we will see him wearing his sporran in the streets of his home turf in Brixton sometime soon!
Five replace Moyles - 15/01/03
Brixton based Chris Moyles is being replaced as host of his TV chat show after one series.
XfM DJ Christian O’Connell will take over the programme on Five, when it returns next month. Live With Chris Moyles, was set in a pub, but ratings for the show had been less than impressive and a spokeswoman says Moyles’s departure had been reached by "mutual consent" after discussions about his commitment to the project.
His Radio 1 show finished at 6pm and he then had to race across London in time for the TV programme’s 7pm start. Moyles is discussing a new weekly entertainment show for Five with Chris Evans’s production company.
Chris in Watchdog row again! - 03/12/02
Leeds born Chris is in trouble again - or his Channel Five show is...
A caller said a ’rude word’ during a phone-in quiz live on air, even though Channel Five said that all callers were warned not to say anything dubious. Producers may have to introduce a delay system so that this incident will not happen again. Chris apologised on air - and Channel Five said it ’regretted the incident’ and that ’casual swearing is commonplace among large sectors of the population’. Well, maybe where you live sunshine...
Channel 5 recommissions Live With Chris Moyles - 15/11/02
Channel 5 has ordered a second run of Live With Chris Moyles, the DJ’s new show before the first series is even half way through.

Within months of his employment he was awarded Sony’s DJ of the Year award and by the end of the year he had bagged the prestigious drivetime slot which saw him become one of the country’s favourite DJs. After five years he was finally given the most sought after Radio One job - the presenter of the Breakfast Show, swapping places with Sara Cox. Moyles, along with sidekicks such as Comedy Dave and Aled Haydn-Jones, managed to quickly push the audience up to over 6.5million.
Moyles has been regularly lambasted for his lack of political correctness and has come under fire for racism, sexism, homophobia and transphobia after comments made on air. He also hit the headlines over pay controversies - crossing the picket line during BBC strikes to present his show and pick up a £630,000 paycheque.
