Germaine: ’Crocodile Tears’ - September 2006
Germaine Greer has incured the wrath of the public yet again.  Her comment piece on the Guardian newspaper on the death of Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin ha the press and public up in arms accusing her of being unsympathetic.  ’The animal world has finally taken its revenge on Irwin’, she writes, ’but not before a whole generation of kids has learnt to shout in the ears of animals with hearing ten times more acute than their own.’  Germaine points out that the way Irwin handled animals ’with only a single possible reaction...to attack’ and that he had been previously criticised for encroaching on the space of wild animals.  She also explains that all Aussie children are taught the dangers of stingrays and to keep a safe distance. 

Germaine Has Left The House - Day 6
Germaine Greer has decided that she no longer wishes to remain in the Big Brother House. Today at midday, she went to the Diary Room and asked Big Brother to return her suitcase, so she could pack her belongings. Speaking to her fellow housemates in the bedroom as she packed, Germaine said: "I’m leaving over specific issues, but best for everyone if I don’t discuss them. I have a problem with decisions, I make them fast and when I make them, I stick to them." She walked at 12.45pm.

Revolution! - Day 5
Germaine has been trying to lead the housemates in a revolt against Big Brother for leaving the bedroom blinds open all night. "I will give you Big Brother’s balls for breakfast" she promised. However, Germaine decided that the best way to upset Big Brother would be to throw Queen Lisa’s crown onto the roof, forgetting that Lisa has grown quite fond of her crown. "My crown," Lisa snapped defensively, not loosening her hold on the golden headgear for a second. Goody two shoes Jeremy was shocked by Germaine’s rebellious suggestions. "I’m a good sport," he said primly. "I always have been".

Lisa bitches about Germaine - Day 5
Whilst Germaine was cooking the dinner; Lisa led the way on a group bitch session about the infamous feminist. Lisa, Brigitte, Caprice and er.Bez were all in on the ’debate’. "I don’t wanna be lectured at," snapped Lisa. General agreements came from Caprice and Brigitte’s direction, whilst Bez was the voice of reason, saying about Germaine ’She said this morning [that] she is struggling’.
’ Aren’t we all’ muttered the disgruntled Queen.

Germaine gets plucky - Day 4
The group task was to pluck 14 pheasants in 90 minutes making sure every feather from the neck down was removed. Germaine got stuck in, claiming plenty of plucking experience. Caprice did not enjoy herself and Bez gagged over his ’I think they’re rotten these birds - this one smells’ "Well, I’m sure you’ve come across a few smelly birds in your time," commented Jeremy. "This is the first bird I’ve touched in ages and she’s going for it!"
