Clapham based, media mogul Piers Morgan is to confront six "tabloid icons", including Victoria Beckham and Peter Mandelson, about their treatment at the hands of the press in a BBC1 series.
Tabloid Tales, which will begin next month, comprises six 40-minute celebrity interviews. Heather Mills, Anthea Turner, Paul Burrell and Jade Goody are the other stars of the series which, according to Morgan, is "pretty confrontational" at times.
The celebrities concerned are given the opportunity to give their side of the story, while Morgan’defend the way in which newspapers operate.

Balham based Mirror editor Piers Morgan’s decision to abandon celebrity fluff and turn the Daily Mirror into a "serious" read has proved a turn-off for readers, with circulation of his paper falling more than 5% in October.
The Mirror’s circulation fell by 5.34% to 2,095,125 compared with the same month in 2001, a decline of 1.68% over its September sales.
It takes the gloss off the Mirror’s scoop last week when it beat the Daily Mail and the Sun by buying up Paul Burrell’s exclusive story for just £300,000.

Still only 36, he has run the Mirror for five years and seems to have stemmed its long-term circulation decline. Sales are holding steady at 2.2m. The consensus is that he has been a strong editor, bringing his own brand of irreverent populism to a paper that was previously beaten into submission by the Sun. But his reputation has been tainted by errors in judgement and he is still under investigation by the department of trade and industry over trading in shares tipped by the paper’s now defunct City Slickers column. Piers lives in Balham with his family.
