What’s it about?
This is a guitar thrashing, NME loving biggie on the festival calendar. Reading and Leeds were always known to be more for the guitar crowd, although recent years have seen the division between festivals grow ever smaller.
Headliners this year The Raconteurs, Editors, We Are Scientists, Dirty Pretty Things,
The Subways, Bullet For My Valentine, Foals with lots more yet to come. Both Carling festivals are campers, so expect to get rather grungey by the time Sunday rocks along. Wet Wipes are the way forward – instant fresheners without having to actually wash.
The main stages have an inner ‘golden circle’ of around 5000 people that can get closer to the stage, who are separated from the baying 20,000 or so behind them by a barrier. If you feel brave enough to try for this, work your way up a few bands before the ones you want to see. Otherwise choose your spot with care!

Sarah said on 19th August ... "Very pricey for what it is. Unless you get a weekend ticket really not worth it. Atmosphere is great, surroundings brilliant. One massive problem is the sound on the main stage which is very quiet and lacks punch."
